Buddhas' Trip to the USA: Breakfast
I promised Buddha Girl a shopping trip to the US, so I booked off a Friday and off we went, we kicked up our trip by making a day of eating as well.
For breakfast, we went to Fraser Park Restaurant, I used to come here regularly (3 years ago), when I worked in the vicinity. This was before our blogging days, I loved the breakfast sausages, the breakfast sandwich, the coq au vin, the German lunch, the German breakfast, and the pork dip. I even had the banana bread and the soups. I actually had this pretty regularly over a 2 year period, pretty much every other week. Even Buddha Girl was exposed to Anton's food back then, I made the mistake of bringing food home for her to try.
(Sorry about the picture quality, these were taken with our camcorder.)
We started with French Toasts with a side of sausage. Buddha Girl loved this. I have to say that this was in the top 5 best french toasts that I've had.
We arrived around 9am, and being an Asian couple with a camera, we stood out like a sore thumb. Anton started hovering around us and we finally introduced ourselves. Anton doesn't remember me from the years past, but I didn't expect him to, I never introduced myself, I just loved his coq au vin. Yes, I've been whining about missing his coq au vin and his sausage rolls.
Ahhhh, the horror when I found out that he no longer makes the Sausage Rolls like before, no more puff pastry. It has been around 2 years since the use of puff pastry...has it been that long for me? I tried the new incarnation in a wrap and I actually like this, it's less greasy than the puff pastry version. I also asked for a side of mayo (his homemade mayo), it's orange now, it used to be yellow, times have changed. This orange version, while still very very good, was still not as good as the one from the past. We were still happy. This roll had sausage, bacon and egg, very yummy.
We also ordered the German Breakfast, I've had this many many times in the past, I used to sneak in a breakfast before going to work. This had ham, bacon, and sausage, an omelet, potatoes and hash browns (I think). All the meats were made in house. Buddha Girl loved the ham because it didn't have the saltiness like store bought ham. I just loved everything on the plate. If you have this breakfast, ask for a small side of mayo (even if it's the orange one) and use it as a dip for the potatoes.
With a long drive ahead of us, Anton graciously left us couple Chocolate Chip Cookies (thank you Anton). They were good. I forgot to buy a piece of banana bread, I don't even know if it's still available.

I like Fraser Park. I went to a Chowtimes lunch there last week and had a big German lunch plus a piece of pork feet. It was alright, although I miss my MSG. LOL. I really want to try their breakfast but its just too far out there from Richmond.
ReplyDeleteSigh I wish it's not so far! I want to try this place so bad!
ReplyDeleteAi-ya!!! Not too far and long if you take east-west connector la!!! AIYA!!!
ReplyDelete@Crispy:
I hope I have time to drop by this Wed for his pig head...hehehe...and Anton mentioned next Wed he wanted to do some kind of chicken feet dish...hehehe...YUMMY!!!
@Elaine:
Go shopping at Metro...so you can "be in the area" and try it...on a weekday of course!!!
I went there on Sat with my husband after reading a Chowtimes post and we also had the German Breakfast and french toast. I loved all the meats in the breakfast, not too salty or greasy! Also, Anton came by and gave us a sample of his beet salad and carrot salad and mayo. The mayo was the perfect dip... I actually dipped almost everything in it. Yum!
ReplyDeleteHello Jacqueline!!! I love that mayo too! Though the version we had was a bit different than the ones we had before, but it was still good and yummy! Like you, I dipped everything in it (except my french toasts and the watermelon)...other than that...I dipped everything...hahahaha!!! And yes...the meats...the ham, the bacon...everything was good!!!
