 HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAISY!
Back when my birthday rolled around, I was looking for some freebies.  I don't know, sometimes, the cheapass in me kicks in and I'm up for something I'd pretty much regret afterwards.  IHOP was one instance, the meal with the breakfast cost us quite a bit and I was still unsatisfied.  However, this time, I joined some rewards club from Denny's and a month after signing up, I received two freebies, both worth $10.  One represented a free burger and fries worth up to $10, the other was a free entree up to $10.

We only planned on using one of the $10 vouchers, but we brought both just in case I didn't want a burger.
Denny's also has a breakfast special of 2 bacon, 2 sausages, 2 hotcakes, and 2 eggs, for $4.99.  Yup, I ordered a Grand Slam.  I'll explain why later.  This plate was pretty greasy, even the eggs looked kind of sad, but that really didn't matter since I had other plans for this.
Buddha Girl didn't know what to order, nothing really appealed to her, so she chose the Grand Slamwich.   She thought it was okay.
I also ordered the Double Cheese Burger, yup, 2 patties and 2 slices of cheese.  I wanted bacon, but a side would have cost around $4, so why not order the breakfast platter and get some eggs while I'm at it.  I piled on the bacon and eggs and knife and forked it.  Hindsight, I really could have put a pancake in between as well.  Aside from the vouchers, the food was pretty much a greasy spoon, pretty simple.  While we don't go all that often, I do enjoy Denny's more than IHOP.
Coming back to the coupons, I only gave our server one of the vouchers, she saw the other and we were able to use both, yup, we ended up saving $20.  We give props to our server because she was awesome for allowing us to use both, but also the fact that she was so happy and helpful, she was a great server, she never let our drinks look empty.  If any of our readers sign up and use the voucher, please remember to tip on the pre-discounted amount.

  1. I applied for the Denny's card too. I got my card but havent received my voucher yet. Dunno what happened to it. BTW, I always tip on prediscounted amount whenever I use a coupon. I was wondering about TG. Do you tip before the 20% discount or after? I went to dimsum there on Friday to pick up my card and I tipped on the amount before discount.

I think Buddha Boy's card and vouchers came separately too...so maybe your vouchers will come soon!!! And yes, we do tip before the discounts at TG, in fact, we do that pretty much everywhere we go...

  4. Good God man, how are you still alive after eating that double cheese burger with the extra eggs and bacon?!? That is an awesome idea thought, must try that for sure...puts my McGangBang to shame:

Of all the suicide sandwiches I've seen, that has to be one of the more creative ones...bacon and eggs in a double cheeseburger!

One of these days, I will attempt one of these:

I think it's an extra 1.49 a patty or something at Burger Thing so one of these days, I'll ask them to assemble one for me..

  5. Peter,
The burger would have been better with more bacon and eggs. :p

Once, in my younger days at a buffet in Reno, friends cut me off on any more bacon after 20 slices. Or there was another time when I had 10 eggs benny at a new years brunch... ah the younger days.

I have more years on you, hence, more time to think about what to put into my burgers. I didn't do the McGangBang, but decided to make my own KFC DoubleDown before it came to vancouver, see link below:
