MomJ came back in town this afternoon after a month in HK...and yes...again...she gained weight because all she did was catching up with old friends over meals after meals...yups...eat...eat...eat!!! LOL!!! Anyways, when Seto-san came back couple nights ago, he already suggested a dinner on the day MomJ arrives...so, we were at TG again!!! Mr. & Mrs. Big Lee also joined us. We, of course, ordered more food than shown here, but since we're frequent diners at TG, we would only shown some significant ones.
(ADDED 2010-12-16) I forgot to mention that at the end of our meal, as we're getting up from our seats, Buddha Boy said hi to the couple sitting at the table next to us...it's Mr. and Mrs. Crispy Lechon!!! *Sniff*...Crispy did not say hi...*sniff*...hehehe! Just kidding! Mrs. Lechon's a very sweet lady! Crispy, bring Mrs. Lechon next time we meet & dine...don't leave her at home!!!

As I walked in the door, I was attracted by a very fragrant smell of Chinese herbs. I was told that it's their Lo-Tong-Gai (落湯雞)...direct translation would be "drop soup chicken"...LOL!!! The term 落湯雞 is basically a Chinese slang for "drenched"...cute huh?
It's a herbal chicken soup with angelica (當歸), red date (紅棗), and wolfberry (枸杞). They used a free-range chicken and it was prepared and cooked by your table (well...more like "near" your table). The soup was full of Chinese herbal flavors...lots of depth yet light...yummy!!! The chicken pieces were, surprisingly, tender
I glanced at the specials and suggested a lobster (since it's $10.95/lb)...so we ordered a Lobster in a Ginger & Green Onion Broth with Noodles (薑蔥蟹加生麵). Though Buddha Boy and I are not big fans of lobsters, but this was a nice change from the crabs. This was cooked quite nicely and very flavorful.
MomJ ordered the Fish Maw & XO Sauce Stir-Fry (XO醬炒花膠)...no one really liked it. It was nothing special...and XO did not go well with it. Moreover, being spoiled by MomJ with good quality fish maw, these were not up to our standards...LOL!!! Yes, I am spoiled!
One of my ATF, Eight Treasure Eggplant Pot (八珍茄子煲)...lots of eggplants this time...hahaha! Maybe because I complained about how little they gave me previously. Flavor was consistent. Buddha Boy thought it needed some colors for presentation...oh come on hun...this is a Chinese restaurant!!! LOL!!!
Next time when we organize a dinner, there must be eggplant! I have been craving for it for the longest time!

ReplyDeleteI love eggplants too. +1 for eggplants. In the dinner that night we have our backs facing your table. Thats why we didnt notice you. We were fascinated by the group of diners in the other table across from us. My wife said that the lady there is very beautiful. Beside the lady was her husband whose back was facing us. From the back, I told my wife that he looks like Thomas Fung of Aberdeen Mall. She said it can't be coz he would probably eat in one of his restaurants. Later on, the chef came out and talked to the husband. It was indeed Thomas Fung and he eats at Buddhagirl's canteen. I wonder if he uses the Top Gun gold card. LOL
