Because we got home quite late from our praying trip last night, the three of us opted to have a lazy day. We woke up at approximately noon, had breakfast sandwiches for lunch, napped, then woke up and scouted locally for more food.
We bummed around the house till about 8pm-ish before finalizing our visit to Raohe Street Night Market 饒河街夜市.
First food stop, the Deep-Fried Egg & Green Onion Pancake 炸蛋蔥油餅, a snack that started in Hualien County 花蓮縣. This was nothing extraordinary, but was simple yet good and satisfying. Unfortunately, due to the unstable weather and poor road conditions, we cancelled our trip to Hualien County 花蓮縣, or else we would've tried this from the famous blue truck (where it all began).
Of course, one of Buddha Boy's must-haves was Takoyaki 章魚燒, the only problem was...he went to the wrong stall!!! Wahahahaha! These weren't as crispy as his ATF stall. Dumb-dumb!!!
Of course, we just simply could not skip the well-known Pepper Buns 胡椒餅 from the famous 福州世祖. Luckily, we caught the short line when we showed up...the line got longer and longer thereafter...
This stall offers some kind of grilled boneless chicken legs. Buddha Boy ordered a Japanese-Style Sesame Chicken 芝麻和風佐雞腿燒 and a Thai-Style Spict Chili Chicken 泰式椒麻雞腿燒, both were pretty disappointing.
Next was a stall that offers Wild Boar Sausages 山豬肉香腸 and Millet Rice Cakes 小米麻糬. The sausages were not as good as the ones we tried in Danshui District 淡水區 (see post 2012-07-01 Day 03 @ Taiwan) and the rice cakes were just so-so.
Just before getting into the cab, we picked up some deep-fried snacks from this 鹽酥雞 ("yan-su-ji", or salty crispy chicken) stall at the main entrance of the market. With a clean and bright stall, the gangster-looking owner was very soft-spoken and very polite, but his wife...oh boy, that lady was one of a kind...
