It was a lazy Sunday and we bummed around until noon. To satisfy Octopus' cravings, LittleSam joined us for a quick trip to Danshui 淡水 before meeting up with MomM and BigPole for karaoke at Party World 錢櫃.

The first stall that caught our attention was the BBQ Squid 烤魷魚. Located right next to it was a stall that was featured on numerous food shows in Taiwan. This stall sells BBQ Wild Boar Sausages 烤山豬肉香腸 and Phoenix Rice-Stuffed Wings 鳳凰雞翅包飯 (which was simply chicken wings stuffed with glutinous rice 糯米雞翼). The squid was good, but nothing extraordinary. The stuffed chicken wing was disappointing. The glutinous rice was too overcooked that it lost all the texture. The sausages were good, even after trying many other places throughout our trip, this place, in our opinions, still got the best wild boar sausages.

Not sure why we had to come all the way to Danshui 淡水 for BBQ Stinky Tofu 碳烤臭豆腐...but since Octopus hasn't been back to Taiwan for 10+ years...let's satisfy her only wish...wahahahaha!

Yup, another drink stop. While the boys ordered regular cups of fresh watermelon juice, Octopus and I each grabbed an adult-sized baby bottle...with fresh watermelon juice in it, of course...LOL!!!

With a small little push-cart, this stall caught my attention. We picked up an order of Hakka Handmade Mochi 客家手工麻糬. Each piece of glutinous rice cake was covered with peanut power. The texture was a bit too soft for my preference.

LittleSam picked up a couple of the Penghu Cactus Ice Cream 澎湖仙人掌冰淇淋. I thought it was quite refreshing but Buddha Boy and Octopus didn't quite like it...they thought it was too sour. The taste was similar to roselle tea 洛神花茶.

I've planned a few tour trips during our stay in Taiwan this year and the trip to Yilan 宜蘭 was the one where Buddha Boy most looking forward to...specifically for the Cherry Valley Duck 櫻桃鴨 and the famous Sanxing Green Onion 三星蔥. That being said, as you can imagine, my husband was so excited to see a stall in Danshui 淡水 that sells Deep-Fried Sanxing Green Onion Bun 三星蔥多餅. I'm never a fan of scallions but I gotta say, this was gooooooooooood!!! The bun was crispy with an extremely thin skin. The lightly-seasoned filling had juices bursting everywhere! What a jewel!!!

Our Danshui 淡水 trip was cut short due to a previously arranged date. We took the train and met up with MomM and BigPole at Party World 錢櫃 in Ximending 西門町, the most popular KTV location in Taipei. For just a little under $600TWD per person (approximately $20CAD), we had an all-you-can-eat buffet (non-alcoholic drinks included) plus four hours of karaoke!!! On a Sunday evening too!!!

The AYCE selections even had a little oden station (left)...adorable huh? Before meeting up with us at KTV, MomM and BigPole dropped by the famous (mostly only amongst HK-tourists) Lau Tian Lu 老天祿 to pick up their popular duck tongues and other miscellaneous soy-marinated snacks. While I appreciate the thought and gesture, honestly, I didn't think it's all that great...and it's quite expensive too!

I love Taiwan! I can have Taiwan Beer 台灣啤酒 anywhere and everywhere!!! We even tried their fruity mango beer...which was...well, let's just say it's not really for beer lovers. Apparently, the pineapple-flavored beer is quite popular, but it's out of stock on the day we visited.
It was hot...boiling hot!!! We picked up drinks wherever available! Luckily, drink stalls are almost every where in Taiwan, if not, convenience stores are almost every where too!
