2012-09-25 Zinger @ KFC

2190 Kingsway, Vancouver, BC

KFC (Kingsway/Gladstone St) on Urbanspoon
Until October 7th, 2012, KFC Canada's Facebook page has a free Zinger promotion (with a drink purchase).  So what's the difference between this year and last year?  This year, a purchase of "any flavour/variety and size" of "any Pepsi fountain drink" gets you the deal, whereas last year, a purchase of "any 32oz PepsiCo beverage" was required.  Simply speaking, no "large" pop requirement this year...wow...BIG difference...
With a Facebook coupon, the cheap Buddha Girl, me, visited the KFC in our hood and purchased a regular-sized drink to get the free Zinger.
The actual product never resembles the advertised product...hahaha!  Was I that hungry?  Cuz I actually thought the burger was not bad.  The chicken was not dry, but not juicy either.  The sauce was not spicy, well, at least for me.  The bun had some burnt spots.
Thanks to Anna and Miranda on Twitter, who came to rescue (on Twitter) when Buddha Dog fainted.  Earlier in the day, we took our son to the nearest recommended clinic (Vancouver Animal Wellness Hospital) and did some tests.  On our way out, Buddha Boy spotted this and couldn't resist...for Buddha Dog, of course.  Yup, like father like son...both love bacon...hahahaha!

2011-10-09 Zinger @ KFC

Buddha Boy and I took advantage of the free Zinger Sandwich (with a purchase of any large 32oz Pepsi product) on KFC's Facebook page.  This was a limited time offer and limited to one per food bill, per visit.  We ordered ours on separate bills, of course.
As stated on KFC site...
"Tender, juicy, Canadian chicken, grain-fed and hormone-free."
"Marinated in our hot & spicy seasoning."
"Double breaded by hand for that extra crunch."
"Kicked it up with our signature 2HOT4YOU spicy mayonnaise sauce."
As stated on Food For Buddha site...
"Tough, dry, unknown quality chicken that may be grain-fed and hormone-free."
"Hot & spicy marination was bland and tasteless."
"Double breaded for that extra crunch sure did not happen on our visit."
"The signature 2HOT4YOU sauce was NOTHOT4ME."
Knowing Buddha Boy, he would not just settle with a simple sandwich.  A combo of couple white meats and an order of small fries tied him over till dinner...wahahahahaha!!!

Since MIL is playing MJ tonight...I decided (finally) to get my lazy butt out of the house and pick up some food for dinner.

For the longest time, I've been craving for some butter chicken, so I thought I would drive DT and pick some up from the cafe inside Law Society on Cambie Street.

When I used to work in Yaletown, I came to this cafe a lot, either for their mac'n cheese or for their butter chicken...too bad they don't make the mac'n cheese anymore...

Their weekly "specials" menu.

Regular menu...prices went up since the last time I visited.
Regular menu...part II.

  Regular menu...part III.

Butter Chicken...big chunks of chicken...very creamy!!!  Buddha Boy likes the kick from fenugreek seeds...YUMMY!!!  However, the portion was a bit small for $7.95.

I decided to try the Vegetable Korma...basically it's vegetables in cashew yogurt sauce...I really like it!!!  It's creamy with a strong coriander flavor!  I can also taste a very light hint of cumin, but not much (good...since I don't really like cumin)...definitely will go back again for this!!!

All curry meals have rice and naan breads.

New Town Bakery & Restaurant (Chinatown) on Urbanspoon
Driving through Chinatown, I thought I would make a quick stop at New Town.
For those who has not yet read my previous post on New Town...FYI...New Town Bakery & Restaurant only has three locations: Chinatown, Richmond, and Surrey...the one on Cambie Street in Vancouver is not own by the same owners...the one on Cambie Street is known as Original New Town Bakery...however...it is not the "original".
This place is famous for their Asado Siapao, or Dai-Bao.
Very reasonable and "cafe" style prices.
I was very tempted to buy some baked goods...but we already have so much food!!!
Buddha Boy's favorite (and it was the main reason why I made the stop)...Beef Rice Rolls!
Look at the amount of meat!!!  No wonder New Town is Buddha Boy's #1 place for Beef Rice Rolls...LOL!!!
Of course...we couldn't visit New Town without buying their famous Asado Siapao (Dai-Bao)!!!
I decided to cut the dai-bao in half and to take a picture of inside...LOTS OF MEAT!!!  Mmmmm...

It's CHICKEN THURSDAY!  This was the reason why I said "we already have so much food!!!"
Stopped by KFC on Kingsway to pick up Buddha Boy's request...fried chicken!!!  YES!!!  MIL not home so we're going high-cholesterol!!!  LOL!!!
 Look at all that mouth-watering, greasy Fried Chicken...LOL!!!  I don't really enjoy KFC (I'm more a Church's person)...but since it's cheap...why not?  LOL!!!
The $12 deal came with a medium box of Fries.
Hot Wings...complimentary on the house...they messed up the orders (I only ordered the Thursday deal)...however, I did not check on-the-spot...and when I got home...I saw hot wings!!!  Well...more fat for us!
