2009-10-19 Day 4 @ Taipei

ADDRESS :  Going Aboard with Buddha Boy & Buddha Girl
PHONE #   :  xxx-xxx-xxxx

Well, it's "day four" in Taiwan...and it's time to go check out what's around for food!!!
We walked around and found this breakfast place that sells traditional-style breakfast.
Buddha Boy loves Taiwan...everything so cheap...look at the menu...nothing is over $1 Canadian!
Soy Milk...most places are using sealed cups now because it's cheaper and more hygienic.
Pan-Fried Pork Buns and BBQ Pork Pastries.
Xiaolongbao - not bad for a breakfast place.
Sticky Rice Roll...well...correctly speaking...it's half of a sticky rice roll.
Oh yea...we also went to this place and picked up some breakfast (since we had six people)...this is Buddha Boy's favorite breakfast hang-out!
This place sells more of a westernized menu - most sandwiches.  Though their prices are a little bit higher than the previous breakfast we went to but it's still CHEAP!!!  Everything on the menu was less than $1.50 Canadian!!!
Hashbrowns
Egg Pancake with Bacon
Buddha Boy's must-have every single day!!!  Breakfast Club House - with only two slices of toasts instead of four slices...Buddha Boy's gotta watch his blood sugar...
Though we had a late breakfast, and will be having an early hot pot dinner...we were still hungry and decided to find some food...I can't remember which mall this stall was located in...
Mostly ramen...
Gyoza...and some side dishes...I think those were seaweed and some kind of herbal root veggie...
Miso Ramen
Katsu (deep-fried pork chop)
Pork Broth Ramen
Deep-Fried Tofu
Croquette
Chicken Karaage
Mom and Uncle Ping brought us to Tripod King for hot pot...this place...from what I heard all around...was probably one of the best places for spicy (ma-la) hot pot...however, it's not an AYCE...and prices were a bit on the higher side...but the quality and flavor was superb!
DIY sauce station.
We ordered a Ying-Yang Pot...one side of the pot had the soup base of Sour Preserved Veggie with Pork Belly...the other side was Ma-La (spicy)...both soup base came with a lot of ingredients already such as tofu and duck blood.  When ordering spicy soup base, the server asked us "how spicy"...we started with medium...then kept on adding the soup base until it's super hot!  Because it's not an AYCE...you can pack the leftover home...moreover...you can ask them to fill up the pot (with as much as ingredients as possible) for you then pack it home!!!  The spicy hot pot at this place is the best I have ever had!!!  It's spicy yet flavorful, and it's not oily at all!  The sour preserved veggie pot was the second best place I have ever had!!!
Common ingredients...meat...meat...Chinese donuts...fish tofu...lol!!!
On the other side we had...meat...fish balls...egg dumplings...and that's not all...
Pork intestines...my favorite!!!
Pork Stomach...my favorite again!!!

Can't remember this was Shrimp Paste or the Abalone Paste...it's one or the other...
After the big hot pot meal...we went prawn-fishing...and these were Thai Tiger Prawns...because it was the weekend so they opened up both ponds...the third pond is used for lobster-fishing...

Not bad...we caught a little more than two dozen prawns in two hours...good enough for snacking!  This place has a huge electric grill in the back...so we asked my mom to clean and skewer up the prawns...the Uncle Ping grilled the prawns for us...
First batch of freshly grilled Thai Tiger Prawns!!!  Tender...juicy...sweet...but Buddha Boy won't eat it because he doesn't trust the pond water...hahahaha...he's not Chinese enough I guess...
Second batch of Thai-Tiger Prawns...freshly grilled...YUMMY!!!
