This was the first BIG Food Fest we threw for a friend leaving town (back to Taiwan for military). Since most of the attendees were Chinese (from Taiwan), we decided to make some Taiwanese street dishes...but of course...it did end up being a mix of east and west...after all...it was a PARTY!!!
We had two cold dishes. First was the Cocktail Shrimps. We bought the Costco ready-to-eat tiger shrimps and some seafood sauce from Superstore. Though we went the lazy and cheap way, this dish was a major hit!!! People just kept on munching on it bite after bite! LOL!

My friend made some Drunken Wings. Wings were quite tender, but lack of wine flavor. We figured she probably didn't marinate the wings long enough to soak in the wine flavor.
Well, we're not fans of "veggies" (sounds weird since I call myself Buddha Girl)...so we only made one veggie-only dish (and we were lazy so we stir-fried whatever we can find in our fridge)- Garlic Stir-Fried Taiwanese Cabbage.
One other veggie dish we made was the Stir-Fried Garlic Sprout with Chinese Sausage. This dish was also a hit!!! The sprouts were cooked just right with shreds of Chinese sausages (lap-chong).
One of the dish my husband made was Hakka Stir-Fry. It`s a popular Taiwanese dish consists of squid, pressed tofu, green onions, basil, celery, garlic, ginger, chili and pork belly.
I made a Pork Belly Stew. However, I decided to remove to liquid because it was a bit too salty. We usually like to buy the pork bellies from Beefway Meats on Kingsway. Their cuts are a lot leaner then usual Chinese butcher shops. NO GOOD - I did not cook the pork bellies long enough to melt in your mouth.
Another dish my husband made was the Three-Cup Chicken. This Taiwanese dish (originated from Hakka cuisine) got the name from its cooking method: 1 cup sesame oil + 1 cup cooking wine + 1 cup soy sauce.
We had some kids at the party so my husband made some Deep-Fried Drummettes for the little ones.
This was the WOW moment - home-made Taiwanese Sausages. My husband sat at the dining table the whole afternoon and stuffed meat into the pork casings using only a funnel and a small dough roller...poor guy!

Little Lee made one of my favorites - Scalloped Potatoes!!! Thanks so much!!!
By request, my Pasta Sauce...since I don`t eat beef, I used ground pork instead of ground beef. The juice from the pork added to the flavor of the pasta sauce. The guys loved it because it`s MEATY!!! LOL!

Since the ONLY thing I can bake is cupcakes...so...that`s exactly what I made...Ying-Yang Cupcakes!!!
